NORGLIDE^® SM is a composite material of compounded PTFE, bronze stretched metal and steel backing. This material structure combines the bearing characteristics of a PTFE compound tape with the sizing capabilities of stretched metal. These bearings can also be designed to be clearance free. Bearings with 1 mm wall thickness or greater can be produced with an interference fit in the housing bore. Various methods are available to protect the steel shell from corrosion.  

In contrast to NORGLIDE^® SM, the bronze stretched metal in NORGLIDE^® SMTL is separately pre-compressed and the PTFE compound tape is thinner, which improves load capabilities while reducing the tolerance compensation compared to NORGLIDE^® SM.
